Adderall XR more than one capsule a day? I take Adderall XR 25 mg capsules every morning for a short period of time. I was under the impression that the convenience of Adderall XR is that you only have to take it once. I ask only cause the capsules aren't really working very well anymore for me. I feel it's benefits very little compared to the first week. Considering taking a second capsule later in the day, wondering when the best possible moment to take the second capsule.

I take two capsules of XR in the am-- for a total of adderall mg. This usually lasts me about 8 hours. Instead of taking more XR later in the day, I take IR to be covered for the rest of the day-- it probably lasts around 4 or 5 hrs. People process the XR and IR at different rates so it lasts different amounts of time depending upon the person.

It's also possible to combine the two types to fine-tune the amount of coverage you get in a day. I'm prescribed up to 40 mg. Sometimes I even overlap it with the XR if I need to do something that requires extra concentration or have to go in a crowded, take two, place really helps with the anxiety I experience in public crowded places. If you chooe to take the IR for your second dose, watch for the "crash" at the end -- this was my reason for not taking the IR too unpleasant. Obviously, see what your doctor has to say. Mine didn't say anything past the common-sense stuff above, but there is a lot of other stuff he may suggest -- switching meds altogether, or adding another med for a cumulative or booster effect.

It's always a bad idea to start experimenting on your own. I take 30mg XR at 6am, and then a 2nd at 11am. If I take it after 2pm, I'm not tired until 3am. I currently take 2 10mg XR's in the morning. Noontime seems like a good estimate to me And it shouldn't keep you up late if it's around noon. I've opted to simply go back hair transplant or finasteride IR.

I'm currently on 30mg XR that i take around 9am. I feel it covers my day fine, but it's not working in a manner I'm happy with. I prefer to have 20mg in the am, and add 10 or 15mg around 1 or 2pm. After being on the XR for 2 months, I've decided I much prefer being able to adjust my dose as I feel necessary.
