These patients suffer from a sub-threshold bipolar disorder and are often less willing to receive medical therapies such as antidepressants. Continued efforts are being made to properly subtype the bipolar spectrum, but those patients who have sub-threshold bipolar disorder are currently diagnosed with bipolar disorder NOS, or not otherwise specified.
