Tramadol belongs to a group of drugs called opioid analgesics, which work by blocking pain signals in the body. This medication comes in immediate release tablet and that can be taken up to 6 times a day, with or without food. Opioid medications do their job well, and they do so by turning on something called our opioid receptors, which are found in the brain as well as in the gastrointestinal tract and spinal cord.
