HealthDay —Any of the prescription weight-loss drugs on the market can help obese people shed weight loss drug naltrexone and wellbutrin side effects, although some seem more effective than others, a new study finds. Currently, five drugs are approved in the United States for managing obesity. But little has been known about how they stack up against one another, said Dr. Siddharth Singh, the lead researcher on the new study. The findings—based on more than 29, people in total—show all five drugs can work.

It turns out that, in a particular combination, you get a weight loss drug, according to researchers. A study published in the Lancet found that this pill, known as Contrave, showed promising results in a phase 3 trial. This drug's main components are naltrexone, used for alcoholics, and bupropion, used for smokers and patients with depression. Both of those component medications have been in widespread use for more than 20 years. But there has never been a weight loss pill approved in any country with this combination weight loss drug naltrexone and wellbutrin side effects the two drugs, said Dr.

These medications impact eating behavior, presumably via their impact on food reward. However, only bupropion induces weight loss in obese individuals, while naltrexone does not have any appreciable effect. The combination of 32 mg of naltrexone and mg of bupropion in a sustained-release combination pill form has been recently approved for obesity treatment.
