I am not a psychiatrist who reaches for a prescription pad within minutes of a patient arriving in my office. I believe deeply that people suffer emotionally because of stressful, traumatic life events that result in negative psychological, behavioral and even neurological fallout. One medicine I believe is being underutilized is clonazepam. Clonazepam Klonopin is a benzodiazepine anti-anxiety medicine, in the same category as medicines like Valium and Xanax. But, unlike those medications, I have found that clonazepam is less likely in my patients to promote long-term dependency and that it is especially effective in reducing symptoms of anxiety in the setting of depression, panic disorder and many other conditions. Again, I am focused very clearly on examining patients lives with them, but when debilitating anxiety has kept them essentially housebound, or led them to contemplate suicide, or rendered them unable to work or even focus on psychotherapy, it mystifies me how they can so often arrive at my office which they do without any clinician having placed them on clonazepam. Not infrequently, beginning the medicine quickly and dramatically reduces their symptoms—sometimes in a single day, or just an hour. So doctors may feel that they are avoiding any potential for addiction by avoiding clonazepam, in favor of these agents. But I have found that serotonin reuptake inhibitors sometimes not always fall far short of the results that can be obtained with clonazepam. And the SSRIs take weeks to work.
Allison Muller understands the dangers of pills that find their way into a toddler's hands. As director of the Poison Control Center at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia , she knows that one to two tablets of certain medications can be lethal to a toddler. So when her 1-year-old son had nearly swallowed a potentially dangerous pill , she said she "panicked. Upon arriving home from work, Muller learned from her husband that her infant son had found a pill on the floor and put it in his mouth. The pill turned out to be Tramadol, a medication known to increase the risk of seizure. She later learned that the pill had fallen out of the pocket of one of her friends who had visited her home recently. Muller said that the episode showed her that even though she keeps the family's medications in a locked tackle box, the threat of accidental ingestion remains. Indeed, such cases are all too common, statistics suggest. Children aged 18 to 36 months seemed to be at the highest risk, and in these little bodies, just one pill can be deadly.

Tell him why u r not sleeping. Doctor never told me that it was bad to take. Prescribed for a multitude of medical conditions including chronic pain, anxiety is also an area where cannabis shows profound ameliorative potential.
